Q: Why did you opt to start a business in Goa?
Goa is very safe and people are very friendly and cooperative. Since I retired from the Navy, the INS Hansa at Goa I decided to settle here. I found Goa a fascinating state with good business potential. Lots of investors were investing in hotel industries and hiring buildings. So there were lot of scope for firefighting industries and since I had 15 years of fire fighting experience during my Navy service so we opted for Goa to start a business.
Q: Your toughest task in setting it up?
There wasn't any toughest task as such as I had experience in this field for many years. Loving and friendly people and pro government policies towards business are very helpful to start an enterprise here.
Q: Have you achieved all your goals? If not what remains to be done?
There is no end to goals because after achieving a particular goal further objectives are being set. My goal is to complete my project with best quality and within the time frame so we will have a 100 per cent satisfied customer.
Q: Your best business moment.
Each and every moment after a successful completion of project within the time frame is my best business moment.
Q: How did you settle down and merge into the Goan lifestyle?
Humble and simple nature of Goans made me very comfortable among them. They love those pupils who will give them good service in time. I'm thankful to all Goans who have supported me at all stages.
Q: Customs or festivals that appeal to you.
Definitely Goan culture is totally different from the north. Most fascinating thing which touches my heart is that all festivals whether of Hindu, Christians or Muslims are being celebrated equally.
Q: State one aspect of Goa which has changed for better or worse?
In credibility and hospitality Goa continues to be the best state to live in India. However crime is increasing and it is sad to see youth involvement in that.
Q: What changes would you like to see in the business as well as social environment?
The government should lend helping hand to people who want to start business. There should be encouragement given to the youth and their confidence must be developed to encourage them to venture into business and always ready to accept the challenge.
Q: What would you advice to youngsters wanting to become entrepreneurs?
Punctuality, hard working and honesty are the three main qualities necessary to become entrepreneurs.
Q: If not a businessman, what would you have chosen as a profession? Why?
If not a businessman, I would have chosen to work for in the marketing field because I am a target oriented and hard working person.
Q: Your definition of susegado.
Try your best and keep on trying till you succeed. Susegado word is not made for a person who believes in hard work. I am the kind who can work 24x7 and 365 days without break so it is not made for me or can say it? Not my cup of tea.
