The young couple from Punjab who had committed suicide at Colva had eloped from their homes and were looking for a job, Colva police have revealed.
The couple Jarjitsingh aged 25 and Haridur Kaul aged 18 had reached Margao on October 9 and stayed in a hotel however on the next day they checked out as they were unable to bear the cost. Police said that the couple then stayed in a guest house and searched for a job but did not succeed.
Colva police have recorded statements of some hotel owners and guest house owners whom the couple had approached for job. It may be recalled that the couple who had come down to Goa for job had committed suicide in a lonely place around 1 km away from main Colva beach in the wee hours of Wednesday.
According to Colva police, Jarjitsingh was working in Punjab as a waiter and had approached hotel owners in Colva for a job. Police said that they have informed Punjab police who in turn have intimated their family members.
