Need to lay down strong edifice of intellectual property right regime: Kunkolienkar

A one-day seminar on ‘‘Intellectual Property Rights’’ (IPR) was held at Institute of Menezes Braganza on Tuesday. The programme was organised by MSME-Development Institute, Ministry of MSME, government of India, Margao in association with World Trade Centre, Goa branch, and Verna Industries Association, Verna; and was facilitated by V M Salgaocar College of Law (VMSCL), Miramar.

The chief guest of the function was the president of MAIT, director (Member of the Board) at Synegra EMS Ltd Nitin Kunkolienkar, who said that for the development of the nation, innovation has to sustain which warrants protecting national assets by laying strong edifice of IPR regime.

The guest of honour was principal of VMSCL prof Dr M R K Prasad, who said, “IPR in near future will equally be an area of growth so also of litigation. On one side there is no law to protect trade secrets where as on the other side despite there being law, film industry and software companies are entangled with piracy disputes.”

The resource persons of the seminar were chairperson, IPR chair, National Law School of India University, Bangalore, prof Dr T Ramakrishna and co-ordinator, PG and Research Centre, VMSCL, Dr Shaber Ali.
