Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Wednesday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in the state is promoting environment-friendly, pollution-free and employment-oriented industries through the Investment Promotion Board (IPB).

The Chief Minister was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Optel Vision, a unit of Optel Group, a leading provider of inspection and serialisation systems for the global pharmaceuticals industry, which is based IDC Verna.

The function was attended by the Optel Group president Louis Roy, director Smartlink Network System Ltd Nitin Kunkolienkar, managing trustee of Goa Foundation Manish Gosalia, director Quebec Canada office in Mumbai Domnic Turcotte and Shounak Dave.

Parsekar, speaking further, said that the state government is committed to develop and help industries in the state on the basis of current allotment status based on check out mechanism for 'Scheme for Skill Development' in Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) under Digital India.

"Goa is not just meant as a tourist destination or wedding destination in the world, but is also on the forefront for promoting industries and companies which are environment-friendly, pollution-free and employment-generating," said Parsekar and disclosed that the IPB had cleared the proposal of Optel Group on July 4, wherein the company managed to accelerate things in a record time.

He said that Optel Vision has a global track record.

"The Canadian company Optel Vision is operating in India since 2012, but the new location in Goa at IDC Verna, which the company management has selected, would help to expand its operations and also serve customers in a better way," added Parsekar. The Optel Group president Roy, in his speech, highlighted that the Optel Vision has come forward to resolve the issues of counterfeit drugs.

He said, "Goa is a key element due to plenty of resources and talents that would help the company to grow in coming years." He stressed on providing attention to the problems of people on humanitarian grounds and also looking ahead at the future.
