The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of SPES's Goa Multi-Faculty College, Dharbandora organised a seminar on the 'Documentation and Computation of API score for Career Progression of Teachers' for its faculty members. Around 20 full-time regular and contract-basis faculty members benefited from this seminar.
The seminar was facilitated by the principal Shaikh Mohammad Parvez Al-Usmani who has been actively involved in IQAC related matters and also been a part of the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) screening-cum-evaluation committee for last several years. The objective of the seminar was to orient and guide faculty members about academic performance indicators (API) methodology, documentation, and procedural aspects as per the seventh UGC Pay and Regulations 2018.
The seminar began with a discussion on rationale behind having API for college teachers and how API-related regulations have evolved over the years. Further, each API criterion was discussed in detail from its key requirements and expectations perspective. This was followed by some inputs from the resource person on the method to calculate and claim points especially under category III and also on the requirement of documentary evidences under each of the criterion. Topics such as when and how to apply for CAS, essence of qualifying period, eligibility criteria were also touched upon. The seminar also acted as a fruitful idea generation platform stirring up discussion on changes to be done in administrative aspects to bring about efficiency in work processes and culture.
