Department of physical education, Don Bosco College celebrated International Yoga Day. Chief guest for inaugural ceremony was manager of the college, Fr Joaquim Lobo. Also present were principal of the college, Cedric Silveira; Sachin Parsekar; Gautam Kankonkar; Ajit Gopi; Ayesha Barreto and Shikha Mishra. 

Addressing those gathered Gopi said that yoga is not just exercise but also a medium of knowing one's self. 

Sachin led an hour-long yoga session for students. The event concluded with students sharing their experiences.

St Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim observed International Day of Yoga. Principal, Maria Fonseca spoke on the importance of yoga in our daily life. Stressing on the importance of health and how we need deep relaxation, concentration exercises as well as yoga techniques, she said that the main aim of yoga is to develop physical health, mental health, social health and spiritual health. She further said that it is not religion but a way of living that aims towards a healthy mind in a healthy body and she concluded by saying that yoga should become an essential part of our daily life.

After the talk students were shown a video on 'Will power and self-control through meditation'. The video explained the importance of will power and discipline in our daily lives.

Later a poster competition was held for students. About six posters depicting the importance of yoga and exercise were displayed. ?

Goa College of Home Science observed the fifth International Yoga Day. Resource person for the occasion was faculty member Pradnya Desai who is associated with the Art of Living Foundation. While emphasising the importance of yoga, Pradnya said that yoga provides mental and physical strength, enabling us to live a healthy life. Students were taught various asanas by? Archana.

GR Kare College of Law observed International Day of Yoga. As part of the celebrations, a yoga session was conducted by Priyanka Nair for the faculty and students. She encouraged students to practice yoga in their daily life to maintain physical and mental wellness. Principal of the college, Saba Da silva along with faculty members attended the session and practiced asanas alongside students.

The NSS Unit of Goa Multi-Faculty College, Dharbandora celebrated International Yoga Day. The programme was conducted under the leadership and supervision of principal, Shaikh Mohammad Parvez Ai-Usmani. Students from BCom and BCA departments participated in the event. Resource person for the function was yoga trainer from Patanjali Yoga, Suresh Kolvekar.

In his welcome address, Al-Usmani pointed out that since the whole world is now embracing yoga, Indians should enthusiastically celebrate this ancient tradition not only on International Yoga Day, but on a daily basis. He further emphasised that yoga is shown to reduce stress and increase overall productivity.

Kolvekar enlightened students and faculty on how yoga can contribute to a peaceful and enduring life. He then demonstrated various asanas.
