The Bachelors of Commercial Applications (BCA) department of SSPES's Goa Multi-Faculty College, Dharbandora, organised a workshop on 'Data Analytics: A Roadmap for Future in IT'.

The resource person for this workshop was senior manager, eClerx Services, Hemant Palivela. His area of expertise includes campaign analytics, speech processing, natural language generation and recommendation systems.

Palivela was accompanied by his assistants: senior analyst and Python programmer, Santosh Panigrahi and senior process manager Siddhesh Salunkhe.

The objective of the workshop was to introduce students to the latest prevailing technologies in industry and also to fill the gap between industry demands and college curriculum.

During the course of the workshop, Palivela shared his experiences in the IT industry. He emphasised the need to enhance both soft skills and technical skills to be at the forefront in this technological era. Further, he spoke about the current scenario in the job market and also discussed start-up ideas with those students who displayed a spirit of entrepreneurship. He also spoke about data science, data mining, classification and clustering algorithms.

Later, Panigrahi demonstrated the usage of basic commands of Python. He also spoke on chatbots, machine learning and artificial intelligence.

During the valedictory function, principal Shaikh Mohammad Parvez Al-Usmani commended the BCA department for a well organised workshop and hoped it provided students with an insight into the IT industry.
