"The state is gearing up to host BRICS Summit, and whatever is required for the event would be in place. BRICS will happen in Goa," the Chief Minister reaffirmed.
Speculations were rife after the news reports claimed that the summit was being shifted to Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh. The city of monuments will host the BRICS convention of tourism from August 31 to September 1, but the same was misconstrued as the leaders' summit.
The BRICS is a bloc comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
The BRICS leaders' summit is slated to be held in Goa on October 16, this year.
India is hosting the 8th BRICS Summit this year with the theme 'building responsive, inclusive and collective solutions'. The calendar of event of the BRICS 2016 includes 12 events scheduled in Goa apart from 82 other events spread across the country.
Goa will host the meeting of BRICS working group on environment on August 19 or 28 followed by the meeting of BRICS Environment Ministers on August 20 or 29.
