Goa can take lead in Digital and Start-up India: RBI

Goa's initiative in Digital India and Start-up India has the possibility of powering the state towards higher growth, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Regional director of RBI S Ramaswamy on Tuesday said that Goa must take the lead in taking forward the concepts of Digital India and Start-up India campaigns of the central government.

Both the campaigns can work in the state due to the high levels of literacy and other favourable conditions. The small size of the state coupled with sizeable English-speaking population, availability of broadband and the presence of IT professionals encourage the campaigns to take off, said Ramaswamy.

Commenting on the economy, the RBI director said that he has seen a lot of potential in start-ups and micro units in the IT and pharmaceutical sectors.
