Old Goa police have registered two FIRs against Bharatiya Janata Party unit president from Santa Cruz for allegedly abusing and assaulting a government servant while on duty.
A source from Old Goa police revealed that, in this regard, an assistant surveyor of the flying squad attached to survey department has lodged a complaint claiming that he was abused, manhandled and pushed while discharging his duties near Old Goa bypass. According to the complainant, the flying squad had received a telephone call informing that some illegal hill-cutting work was going on along Old Goa bypass. Upon reaching the site, the squad discovered that the hill-cutting work was in progress and that one JCB and 6 tipper trucks were waiting to take the debris.
Further, as per the complainant, the BJP official Hemant Golatkar appeared on the spot and allegedly told him that he has been given permission ‘‘verbally’’ by the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and asked him to keep himself away from the issue. When the surveyor stopped the work, Golatkar allegedly abused, assaulted and pushed him, mentions the complaint.
The flying squad has attached 6 trucks and one JCB under panchanama. Another FIR was registered against Golatkar for allegedly carrying out hill-cutting work without having any valid documents, revealed police.
